Rachel Freedman, Ph.D.

I am a licensed psychologist with 20 years of clinical experience.

My goal as a therapist is to create an environment where you feel free to explore anything that is on your mind.  I do this by being authentic, transparent, and curious rather distant or directive.

I make it easy for new clients to get to know me as a person and therapist. I won’t hide behind a professional mask nor will I automatically deflect personal questions.  What you will get from me is attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and compassion. Instead of awkward silence, I will provide a comfortable space to reflect.  I am engaged and active in sessions but also know when to hold back and allow you the space to feel your feelings, whatever they may be.

I want to find out who you are.  I want to earn your trust so that I can help you move forward and meet your goals.  The quality of the therapy relationship is of utmost importance to me. I believe that the outcome of the therapy depends on the trust and connection between therapist and client. All are welcome—I strive to be inclusive and non-racist and continually examine my own biases in order to increase my own self-awareness. All genders are welcome as are all forms of neurodiversity.

Therapy can be difficult and challenging as you deal with difficult situations and emotions, but it can also be fun, hopeful, and creative.

I am licensed to practice in the State of Maryland (#04440), the State of Rhode Island (#PS02108) and also am authorized by the PSYPACT Commission to conduct telepsychology in participating states (APIT Mobility #8575). Issue Date:  7/13/2021
